Introduction to Global Education

What is Global Education?

The aim of global education is to prepare students to thrive in the 21st Century. By increasing global competence and awareness, students are better able to identify issues of local, global, and cultural significance. The result of a global education curriculum is a population of empathetic individuals who understand and appreciate perspectives outside of their own and are open to engaging with others in order to take action for the collective well-being of humanity. This global awareness empowers students to go forth with the knowledge and responsibility to contribute to an ever-changing world.

Why is it important to our community?

Globally competent students will be ready to enter a world where the integration of their knowledge, values, attitudes, and skills will provide solutions to the greatest challenges facing society. Global competence at the ground level facilitates open, honest discourse and breaks down tensions at the local, state, national, and international levels.

"Educating Our Youth to Care About Each Other and the World"

"Today, more than ever, our students need to be equipped with the critical thinking, communications, socio-emotional and language skills to work collaboratively with their counterparts in the United States and all over the world. Understanding and appreciating other parts of the world, different religions, cultures, and points of view are essential elements of global and cultural competence."
